Interlibrary Loan Policy

The library participates in the national interlibrary loan (ILL) program which permits the library to borrow materials for its customers from other libraries. The network is purely a cooperative relationship between libraries and no library is obligated to loan.

Interlibrary loan service is a privilege, not a right, earned by adhering to policies, procedures, and the return of materials in good condition and on time.

Most reference materials, including many genealogy items, audiovisual and special collections are not usually available through interlibrary loan.

Customers being provided interlibrary loan service shall sign acknowledgement and receive a copy of the following tenets of this policy:

Guidelines

  1. A valid library card with no current outstanding fees owed and a positive account history. The library reserves the right to withhold ILL privileges.
  2. Only one copy per title may be in either the request or loan stage at any time.
  3. No cancellation can be made after the request is in process; fee will still be owed if customer does not check out loaned item.
  4. Renewal requests must be made 2-3 days before due date.
  5. Items may not be returned via the book drop.
  6. Customers are responsible for adhering to US Copyright restrictions.

Fees

  1. $3.00 charge per item will be charged to customer’s account when item is requested.
  2. $1.00 per day overdue fine for books; maximum fine is $20.00.
  3. The customer is also responsible for any fees charged by the lending library to the borrowing library for obtaining the item, or for any damage that occurs while the item is on loan.
  4. Articles received electronically will be printed at the regular library copier cost per page.
