New Hampstead Branch Library
The new Hampstead Branch Library will be located at 15146 US Hwy 17 in Hampstead, next to the Pender County Government Annex.
At 20,000 square feet, the library is scheduled for completion in spring 2027 and will provide expanded space and services to meet the needs of the growing Hampstead community. Features will include:
- A spacious children’s area with a significantly expanded collection
- A dedicated teen room for studying, reading, and gathering
- Two large meeting rooms and eight private study rooms for groups and individuals
- A semi-covered outdoor courtyard for reading, leisure, and programs
The total project budget is $15.3 million. Architectural design services are provided by Sawyer Sherwood and Associate in collaboration with the library consulting firm ReThinking Libraries. A separate construction contract will go out to bid in late 2025. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026.
