Library Resources and Services during the Pandemic
Our services are mostly back to normal: you can come in the library, look for books, use the computers, printer, and copier. However:
As of 1:30 pm on May 14, 2021, masks and social distancing are no longer required in the library. The CDC and the NC Department of Health and Human Services continue to recommend that unvaccinated people wear masks to protect others from infection, but it is no longer required.
We have reduced seating to encourage social distancing and limit the amount of time that any one person is in the library.
Meeting rooms and study rooms are not available.
Public computers are available, but at 50% capacity in order to maintain social distancing.
Join us for storytime on the lawn! Tuesdays at 10:00 in Hampstead, Thursdays at 10:00 in Burgaw.
Outdoor pickup service
Although we are open again to walk-in traffic, we continue to offer our outdoor library pick-up service. (More info)
Online programs for K-5 children
Join us online for interactive online programs exploring science, technology, art, and more! (More info)
Download free e-books, audiobooks and magazines
Don't want to leave the house, but need a new book to read? Check out our e-book collections where you can download e-books, audiobooks, and magazines for free. (More info)
Online library card registration
Want to start downloading e-books from the library but don't have a library card? Register for one online, call the library to activate your account, and start reading!
We have strengthened our existing Wi-Fi signal in the parking lots at both locations to provide enhanced internet access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All Pender County Schools students and staff have automatic access to all of the library's digital resources, including e-books, audiobooks, and homework help resources! (More info)
Starting April 8, 2020, all physical books, audiobooks, DVDs, and other physical things you borrow from the library will from now on be renewed automatically! This saves you from needing to call the library or renew online.
(Note: items can't be renewed if someone else has requested the title, if you have used up the max renewals for the item, or if you have more than $5 in fines on your account.)
E-book Collections through OverDrive
The e-iNC Library is a collection of e-books, audiobooks, videos, and magazines for all ages.
Go to OverDrive Help to learn how use OverDrive with step-by-step instructions for a variety of phones, tablets, e-readers, and personal computers. For tablets and phones, we recommend the Libby app instead of the older OverDrive app.
